Canoe accross Scotland

Join us as we cross Scotland from Fort Wiliam to Inverness following the Caledonian Canal.

Location: Scotland  Duration: 5 days/4 nights 

Whats Included?

Expert guides – our guides are professionals at what they do. Providing a safe, fun and memorable trip.

Meals – All meals are included from lunch on day 1.

Transport – We will transport you from Inverness back to Fort William at the end of the trip.

Equipment – all specialist equipment is provided. Canoes, Paddles, Bouyancy Aids, Dry Bags, Tents, Roll Matts.

Wild Camping – 4 nights wild camping.

 

Paddle 100km of loch and canal along the Great Glen Canoe Trail on this adventure accross Scotland.

On this trip you will cross Loch Ness, paddle in the shadow on Ben Nevis and discover some of the best wild camp spots right on the waters edge.

GETTING THERE

You will meet your guides in Banavie car park, accross from Neptunes Staircase, at 8:30am.

Your car will be parked here for the time you are on the trip. Transport back to Banavie will be organised to return you and your bags to your car.

WILD CAMPING

We will be wild camping every night during the trip.

What is wild camping? Wild camping is setting up camp in areas other than official camping sites. This means no toilets, showers. However situatied along the canal are toilet and shower blocks as well as washing machines and dryers. Any of these can be used when needed throughout the trip.

 

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED

Sleeping bag – even in summer we recomend a 3 season sleeping bag as in  Scotland it can still get cold over night.

Water proof clothing for paddling – you will need to bring your own clothing to paddle in each day.

Shoes – we recomend an old pair of shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. Wet suit boots are also fine.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Banavie to Gairlochy

Meet your guides at Banavie car pack. Here you will pack your personal kit into dry bags along with the tents and roll matts provided. You will get to know the group as you load and launch the canoes onto the canal. Following the canal until you reach Loch Lochy where we will find a campsite for the night.

Day 2

Loch Lochy to Loch Oich

Continuing along Loch Lochy passing through Lagon Locks. Here you will find the Eagle Barge Inn, a pub boat! Heading back into the canal and out into Loch Oich where we will make camp.

 

Day 3

Head out onto Loch Ness

From our camp on Loch Oich we will head back into the canal with two portages before arriving at Fort Augustus. Here your guides will stock up on provisions while you explore the village. We will head out onto Loch Ness and find a spot to camp for the night.

Day 4

Complete Loch Ness

Second day on Loch Ness will bring the end of the loch in site. Routes up the loch are weather dependent, however we will make camp at the head of the loch with stunning views of the journey taken. Finishing the day with a visit to the Dores Inn nearby.

Day 5

Paddle to Inverness

Breaking camp for the last time, day 5 we head back into the canal for a relaxed paddle arriving at Dochgarroch by lunch time. This is the end of our trip on the Caledonian Canal!
